Jillian 2013 Senior | Yakima Senior Portrait Photographer

Jillian was needing someone to shoot her senior portraits last minute, and luckily I was able to fit her in! We had a blast trekking through the small “canyon” to get to the best spots. As you can see, she is a beautiful girl. She is also an awesome volleyball player and being one has earned her a scholarship to Whatcom Community College, where she will attend this fall, how awesome is that?!

Alyssa 2013 Senior | Yakima Senior Portrait Photographer

Alyssa is distant cousin of mine through marriage…I don’t know the proper title so I’ll just leave it at that :P One thing is for sure though, she is ABSOLUTELY stunning and her freckles make her even more so. However, just because she’s super pretty and was prom queen this year, doesn’t mean she isn’t one TOUGH soccer player who also just happens to drive a lifted Dodge Ram 1500 that she calls “Rammy” (LOL).  And to top it all off, she’s headed to become a WSU Coug this fall and plans on pursuing nursing. She’s basically awesome and I was so happy that she let me throw a little boho inspiration into her session with the use of the floral crown.

Here are some of my favorites:

New Logo! | Yakima Wedding & Senior Photographer

Oh my gosh, Liz of Liz Franco Photography is absolutely amazing! She created this gorgeous logo for me, handdrawn mind you, and I LOVE it! You can check her out at Liz Franco Photography! She is a super sweet person and tries really hard to get your vision for your logo exactly right. Her personality + talent = perfection.

Well here it is, Jess Hunter Photography’s new look:

Shelby + Philip Engagement Session | Redmond Wedding Photographer | Wenatchee Wedding Photographer | Yakima Wedding Photographer

Shelby & Philip were put in a bind by their original photographer, who for some reason or another couldn’t shoot their wedding, which was just 5 short months away. The photographer posted in a photography group on Facebook looking for a replacement, and this is how I happened upon Shelby & Philip and subsequently become their wedding photographer. :) They are a super sweet couple, and I loved hanging out with them during their shoot. We did their engagement session in Fall City, right down the road from Redmond. It was a gorgeous, SUNNY day which is a rarity in April in this part of Washington, so I can say that we got extremely lucky on that end! Their wedding will be in Pateros, north of Wenatchee,  and I am looking forward to getting out of Yakima to see some beautiful scenery for their July wedding. :)

Enjoy!

2014 JHP Senior Model Reps | Yakima Senior Portrait Photographer

This is my first year in Yakima, and my first year having senior representatives! So far it has been a lot of fun meeting these girls and getting to photograph them. Each of them has a different, unique personality, and I love seeing it come through in their pictures, or even seeing a side that isn’t instantly noticeable show up in their pictures. They are all BEAUTIFUL, and TALENTED with a few being cheerleaders, athletes, a dancer, and a singer. I am super blessed to have them represent me! Thank you so much to each and every one of you, I really appreciate everything you are doing! Also, thank you to the parents of the girls for allowing them to be  senior reps for Jess Hunter Photography.

Below is a preview of the girls from their mini sessions (short, basic shoots), they will have their real senior session throughout this summer and fall. ALSO, I recently had 3 more reps join. Katy & Mattie from Selah High School, & Haley from Zillah High School. These are the last reps I am taking for this year, but I am excited to add them to the team! Once I have their mini sessions done in the next couple of weeks I will add their pictures and update the blog post :)  To see all pictures from the mini sessions, please visit this link: JHP Senior Model Rep Mini Sessions

My Sister Morgan | Valdosta, Georgia Portrait Photographer

During my visit to Georgia, I got to do an awesome spur of the moment session with my beautiful 13 year old sister, Morgan. She looks so completely beautiful and GROWN-UP in these photos that I am just amazed! I wish more than anything that I was able to see her more often. I hate that I’m missing out on her growing up. Oh well..I know God has me right where he intends for me to be. Of course, that’s always easy to know and not always easy to be comforted by. When I still lived at home, my sister and I didn’t really spend a lot of time together…and she started riding AFTER I moved to Alaska, so now the one thing that we have in common is something we don’t get to do together very often. However, it is inspiring because growth is so noticeable in her riding every time I come back to visit. I am blessed to call her my sister, and am so proud of the way she has “followed in my footsteps” in a sense, by learning to love horses just as much as I do. I love this session…and this girl…and the love of her horse that is so apparent in these photos.

Visit Home to Georgia

Oh my gosh, I am SO happy to finally have this post up! It’s been almost a month since we got back from my visiting my family and friends in Georgia and I miss everyone and everything so much already. And there is so much to miss….the warmth of the sun as it hits the back of my neck…the Spanish moss blowing gently in the wind…the joy of being able to share Elsa with my parents…the new found maturity my sister is beginning to possess…the freedom I feel as my Grey Mare’s hooves thunder beneath me…the comforting taste of Southern food. I could go on and on…but I won’t :)

This trip marked a 14 month span without seeing my parents and my sister. Which in my opinion, was way too long to go without seeing any of them. The hardest part about there being such a long period between seeing them was them not meeting Elsa until she was almost 6 months old. Even though it was amazing and so fulfilling to have her meet her other set of grandparents, it still makes me sad knowing it was the first time and will be the only time for another good while.

Besides not seeing my family, I also didn’t get to see my other love: my Grey Mare. While I love horses in general, my grey mare and I have a special bond. I broke and trained her as a two year old, and now she is actually turning 10 in two days (April 16). Crazy! She only has one eye, but instead of it hindering her, she does just as good without it and still runs barrels awesomely. In the future we plan on bringing her to WA (or wherever we end up) but for now she gets to live in GA with my family and my sister’s horses. I was able to ride her a lot during our trip (as you can see from the photos), and I even got to take her to a couple of barrel races, and we placed at one of them! Pretty awesome I’d say, since I hadn’t ridden her in 14 months and it was only her 3rd show in a 3 year span. She’s pretty awesome and I’m gonna miss her.

I am so thankful that I was able to go on this with my hubby and Elsa. I’m glad I got to go fishing with my dad. I’m glad I got to ride horses, and ride horses with my sister. I’m glad I got to spend time with friends that I haven’t seen in ages. I’m glad Elsa met her grandparents and her Auntie Morgan. I’m glad I got to eat Chick-Fil-A, Zaxby’s, and all of my other Georgia restaurant indulgences. Most of all I am just glad that I was just able to BE there. To be home again. And I’m also thankful for my hubby..who really did make this trip possible.

Below is a collection of both Instagram and regular photos from the trip. Horse overload, I know.

Murphy Family Session | Yakima, WA Photographer

Brett and Lyndsey Murphy have the cutest little girl, Aubrey! She just turned six months old February 8 which means she is a little over a month older than Elsa. I have to say that having my own little one makes seeing others in action even more exciting! Becoming a mom has definitely been the start of an amazing adventure, and I’m sure Lyndsey can say the same. Hopefully the Murphy’s and I can get our two precious little girls together for play time in the near future! I’m sure Elsa would love it :)

Anyway, here are the photos from The Murphy’s family session that was in honor of Aubrey’s six month birthday. :)

Sister-in-Law | Yakima, WA Individual Portrait Session

My sister-in-law is also a photographer, and so she needed some photos for her website (www.jmhunterphotography.com), which I was happy to provide her with.  Other than the fact that we are both photographers, we have a whole lot of other things in common. The biggest and most confusing thing we have in common: the same name. Yep, we’re both Jessica Hunters! I’m married to Nick and she is married to his brother Clint. I guess we can say that the Hunter boys have good taste..in..names? Lol. We also live in the same city now (Yakima, Washington), on the same street, and we both have Canon 7Ds. Haha, I PROMISE none of this was intentional, but it just keeps happening with us. As we get to know each other more and more, these similarities just keep popping up all over the place! We’ve only really known each other a little over a year, since just before Nick and I got married, so each thing is a surprise. They’re often ironic but they’re always fun…I enjoy having someone who loves photography as much as I do who lives right down the street. We can use each other to test out ideas or just to practice, which is a pretty great bonus to being sister-in-laws living on the same street. :)
Did I mention that we both have brown hair and green eyes? :)
